30  years ago today, it was the first of two nights in Portland for Bryan Adams on his Into the Fire tour.  This was his first time headlining at the Cumberland County Civic Center and his second appearance there. He first came to our town in 1983 opening for Hall and Oates. You might be saying to yourself, “wait a minute, I saw him on the Reckless tour.” Well, that show was at the Augusta in October of ’85. The set list from June 8, 1987 featured new songs like Hearts on Fire, Only the Strong Survive, and Heat of the Night along with the favorites Cuts Like a Knife, Heaven, Run to You, and Summer of ’69  to name a few. The Hooters opened the show. They were on the road with Bryan promoting their new album, One Way Home. Bryan Adams played Portland’s biggest venue two more times after the ’87 two-night stand, in 1992 and more recently in 2014.
