These days he fronts a band called the Sensational Space Shifters. He also worked with bluegrass star Alison Krauss in ’07 and in the Eighties was a member of the Honeydrippers with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Do I even need to remind you that he’s the voice of Led Zeppelin? Didn’t think so.  Robert Plant turned 69 on Saturday August 20th.

Thankfully, he did make one trek to Portland in the summer of 1990 on his Manic Nirvana tour.

He has been making music for like 50 years and is still sounding incredible with his out-of-this-world vocal range. You’ll see what I’m talking about in this video from his summer tour with the Sensational Space Shifters. Check out this awesome performance of “Going to California” last summer in Sicily. He’s absolutely still got it. Happy Birthday to the Golden God!

He croons…”Sometimes I get to thinking. I’m thinking about my baby. I think I’ve been singing this song for 45 years. I’m still looking for my baby. Anybody seen my, anybody seen my, anybody seen my, anybody seen my baby?” Brilliant!

Robert Plant has a new album coming titled, Carry Fire on October 13th. “The May Queen” is the first single just released last week.
