On September 13, 1965, a Starr is born! Ringo and his wife Maureen welcomed a baby boy in London and named him Zak Richard Starkey. Happy 52nd Birthday to the son of a Beatle and drummer for the Who since 1996! Zak made his first appearance on the Quadrophenia tour. Both Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend consider him to be the best fit behind the kit since Keith Moon (Zak’s godfather). His watershed with the Who moment was at the Concert for New York City, a tribute to the victims and first responders and all who love them. On October 20, 2001, the most electrifying set came from the Who. The audience included members of the NYPD and NYFD roaring for them the loudest! With Zak Starkey on the drums, the Who stole the show on that historic night at Madison Square Garden.

Since it’s Zak’s birthday today and this week marks the 15th anniversary of 9/11, let’s go back to MSG for the Who's planet-shaking performance.
