17 years ago today, Sting played a sold-out show at the Civic Center.  This was his third concert appearance in Portland and his second sell-out. He’d previously been here in ’82 for a full house with the Police and then in ’88 on his solo Nothing Like the Sun tour.

It was May 25, 2001, Sting brought the Brand New Day tour to Maine. What an incredible night of top-notch musicianship with a set-list that was loaded with hits from his solo catalog and some Police classics for us rockers in the audience.

Sting was in the Police from 1977 to 1983 before launching a solo career and is one of the world’s best selling artists with over 100 million records sold, with and without the legendary power trio.

Sting and Shaggy brought it live to Good Morning America today. We weren't sure about this collaboration when it first announced...but you know what?  This is gonna a fun summer tour. They sound pretty great together.
