4/26/1986 (30 years ago today) - First, you're gonna have to wrap your head around the fact that the first Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar really is thirty years old!!! "5150" starts three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart on this date three decades ago!?!? True! We just....can't.....stand it! (Time passing that is, not the album, which we rather like quite a lot, thank you!)

4/26/1994 (22 years ago today) - From the "We're a little surprised this didn't happen sooner!" Dept.: Former Jefferson Airplane singer-songwriter, the always-unafraid Grace Slick, pleads guilty to pointing a shotgun at police in her California home. She claimed to be under duress since her home had burned down...though that incident actually happened a year earlier! Her sentence: 200 hours of community service and four Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week for at least three months. Ya think?

4/26/1938 - Happy Birthday to one of rock and roll's most influential guitarists, Duane Eddy, 78 years old today. In the late 1950's and early '60's, Duane scored a number of instrumental hits that turned into bona-fide classics -- "Rebel Rouser", "Ramrod", "Peter Gunn", "Forty Miles Of Bad Road", "Some Kind-A Earthquake", "Shazam!" -- all noted for their distinctive "twangy" sound that served him well: by 1963, he had sold over 12 million records. Duane was inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1994.
