12/16/1974 (42 years ago today) - Guitarist Mick Taylor announces he's leaving The Rolling Stones, saying it's time to move on and do something new. Mick Jagger smarmily replies "Well, hopefully now we can find someone who knows how to do their own make-up." Ouch!

12/16/2011 (5 years ago today) - An ultra-rare "Beatles VI" in-store promotional poster sells at an eBay auction for $6,3000!!! This one's really hard to find; "Beatles VI Is Here!" was printed in block letters across the top of a B&W photo of John, Paul, George and Ringo, with album art of the first five LP's along the bottom edge. Cool!

12/16/1949 - Happy Birthday to ZZ Top main-man, guitarist extraordinaire Billy Gibbons, 67 years old today. Billy's first band, The Moving Sidewalks, notoriously opened for Jimi Hendrix on The Experience's first U.S. Tour! Ah-how-how-how-how...
