2/8/1968 (49 years ago today) - They were the opening act for Edwin Starr at The Marquee Club: The Band Of Joy make their debut live performance in London -- On vocals, Robert Plant; on drums, John Bonham. Something's in the air...

2/8/1975 (42 years ago today) - It was his second No. 1 album in the U.S.: Bob Dylan hits the top with his 15th(!) studio album "Blood On The Tracks". Not only one of his best-selling records, one of his best ever, and that's sayin' somethin'; a quick peek at the track listing can pretty much leave you breathless: "Tangled Up In Blue", "Simple Twist Of Fate", "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go", "Shelter From The Storm", "Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts", "Buckets Of Rain"...seriously, one of the best albums of all-time!!!!

2/8/1981 (36 years ago today) - We liked them better when they weren't famous: R.E.M. made their first-ever recording sessions at Bombay Studios in Smyrna, Georgia. Tracks included "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville", "Gardening At Night", and the absolutely-perfect-best-example-of-their-pioneering-sound "Radio Free Europe". A band that's been sadly left behind these days...
