1/13/1965 (52 years ago today) - Decent days work: The first recording session for what would turn out to be Bob Dylan's "Bringing It All Back Home" album are held at Columbia Recording Studios, New York City, resulting in the final versions of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue". Think about it: both of those classics knocked off in one session in one day! Gives ya the hee-bee-jeebies...

1/13/1929 - Born on this date, one of the best players who ever lived, frankly: props for the fantastic Joe Pass, a truly legendary jazz guitarist whose sophisticated use of chord-melody, along with an unbelievable knowledge of chord progressions and inversions and an uncanny/unmatched style of improvisation, backed some of the most talented artists to ever grace the planet -- best known for his long-term partnerships with singer Ella Fitzgerald and pianist Oscar Peterson, Joe also recorded and played live with Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mathis, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and worked on TV shows including "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson". Joseph Anthony Jacobi Passalacqua passed away on May 23, 1994, age 65. For sheer jaw-dropping brilliance, check this performance out:
