1/5/1967 (50 years ago today) - ...and they didn't put it on the album?: During The Beatles sessions for "Sgt. Pepper" at Abbey Road in London, Paul McCartney records his lead vocal track for "Penny Lane".

1/5/1969 (48 years ago today) - It's the last of four nights at L.A.'s Whisky A Go Go for Led Zeppelin's first tour of North America; the were officially billed as "Led Zeppelin featuring Jimmy Page, formerly of The Yardbirds"; opening act was Alice Cooper!
