6/14/1964 (55 years ago today) - Imagine a Euro-"Community Auditions": A group called The Manish Boys (that's right, one "m") tries out for the British TV talent show "Opportunity Knocks" -- No big deal at the time really, even though their lead singer was David Bowie. Yikes!

6/14/2007 (12 years ago today) - Bob Dylan won Spain's Prince of Asturias Award, one of the country's most highly regarded and prestigious honors -- The jury called Dylan "a living legend of popular music and the guiding star of a generation that dreamed of changing the world". Yeah, Bob's more than a little alright...

6/14/1945 - Born on this date, Happy Birthday to English musician-composer-producer and keyboardist-most-extraordinaire, the much respected and very talented Rod Argent, 74 years old today -- Co-founded artsy Brit-Invasion group The Zombies ("She's Not There", "Time Of The Season"), then in the '70's (with influential songwriter and guitarist Russ Ballard) formed hard-rock/boogie-prog outfit Argent ("Liar", "Hold Your Head Up", "God Gave Rock And Roll To You") -- You should get familiar with The Zombies' "Odessey And Oracle" and Argent's "All Together Now", both albums having attained true classic status; The Zombies were inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this year (coincidentally on the 50th anniversary of "Time Of The Season" hitting No. 1 in America!), so there's that , too...
