6/19/1965 (53 years ago today) - The Four Tops go to No. 1 on the singles chart with the brilliantly infectious "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" -- Hard to believe, but lead singer Levi Stubbs was not happy with the way it sounded and was promised another recording session scheduled for the next day so he could do it all over --That session never took place and the track that became a hit was, in fact, just the second take of the song!!! We have a winner...

6/19/1971 (47 years ago today) - Carole King kicks off a five week run at No. 1 with the double-A sided single "It's Too Late"/"I Feel The Earth Move", both from her super-nova "Tapestry" LP which became one of the best selling albums in entertainment history (25 million-plus sold worldwide, 10 million in the U.S. alone!) and Rolling Stone ranking it No. 36 on their "500 Greatest Albums Of All Time" -- It certainly was one of those records that you found in everybody's home, no matter where you lived or what you did for work, you had a copy of "Tapestry", we all did, that's just the way it was. Remarkable, really, when ya get right down to it...

Now that you know, give 'em a listen, it's rather refreshing stuff...
