6/22/1956 (59 years ago today) - Could this have been the first rock contract rider?: Elvis Presley kicks off a three-day run at the Paramount Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, playing a total of ten shows; for each performance, the stage manager is instructed to "pull all white lights, Presley works all in color; Presley act has no encore. When he leaves the stage, immediately close all curtains". Elvis knows exactly what he's doing...

6/22/1964 (51 years ago today)The Beatles play their first-ever show in New Zealand at the Wellington Town Hall. Not everybody was happy about it: the local police chief refused a police escort for the boys, which left just two policeman to control over 5,000 fans!!!

6/22/1948 - Happy Birthday Todd Rundgren, 67 years old today. Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, arranger, prolific artist and always at the forefront of cutting edge recording technologies; stunning resume of classic rock album production -- Todd was manning the console and directing the artists on all of the following LP's: "Straight Up" by Badfinger, "Stage Fright" by The Band, "We're An American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad, "Bat Out Of Hell" by Meat Loaf, The New York Dolls debut, "War Babies" by Hall & Oates, "Skylarking" by XTC...yeah, there's lots more, too. And don't forget his solo catalog, a long line of freak-out records with his band Utopia, and multiple tours with Ringo. Todd's a little more than all right...
