6/28/1975 (41 years ago today) - The Eagles start five weeks at No. 1 with their breakthrough album, "One Of These Nights" -- The bands fourth LP boasted three Top 5 singles (the title track, "Take It To The Limit", and "Lyin' Eyes" which went on to win a Grammy) -- At 4 million copies sold, this was the record that pretty much turned them into international superstars; for the next four years they were clearly established as America's Number One band. So, yeah, it really kicked in starting here; you know what came next don't you?

6/28/1980 (36 years ago today) - It's on the 'short list' of live recordings that made it to the top: Paul McCartney's "Coming Up" hits No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart -- The version that became the hit (recorded in concert) was actually the B-side of the single (it was intended to be a sort of "rarity" treat for fans, as it was not going to appear on any forthcoming LP); radio DJ's, however, preferred this more rockin' live take, and that's the one that got the most airplay and became the chart-topper! Back when DJ's could...(ahem)..."make the call"...

6/28/1997 (19 years ago today) - Speaking of 'short lists'...: This date marked the 1,056th week of Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side Of The Moon" being on the charts! Do the math. And good luck...
