3/22/1975 (44 years ago today) - Led Zeppelin kick off six weeks at No. 1 on the album chart with their sixth studio album, the double-vinyl classic "Physical Graffiti" -- It was Zep's fourth U.S. chart topping LP and on its first day of release, it shipped one million copies, a feat that no other record in the history of Atlantic Records had ever achieved -- At last count, "Graff" has sold over 18 million worldwide, not bad for a set that was mostly made up of "leftovers" from as far back as "Led Zeppelin III". Still sounds amazing today...

3/22/1980 (39 years ago today) - It was their only No. 1 single: Pink Floyd start a four week run at the top of the U.S. chart with "Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)" -- It also went to No. 1 in {take a deep breath...} Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden, and The U.K.. -- Got a Grammy nomination for Best Performance by a Rock Duo or Group, but lost out to Bob Seger's "Against the Wind". Of course.

3/22/1943 - Born on this day, founding member and original lead singer/frontman for The Yardbirds, Keith Relf -- Started playing in bands in 1956, earning much praise for his harmonica playing finesse; in fact his blues harp sound was an integral part of The Yardbirds early success -- Keith also co-wrote many of the bands seminal hit singles including the classics "Over Under Sideways Down", "Shapes Of Things" and the psychedelic masterwork "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago" -- Little known fact: he sang an early version of "Dazed And Confused" in live Yardbirds sets before the song was later recorded by the band's successor group (you-know-who) -- Sadly, Keith died from electrocution while playing his improperly grounded guitar at home; he was only 33.
