Landmark LP's from Zep and Zimmy and props for a long gone Yardbird...

3/22/1965 (51 years ago today) - Bob Dylan's fifth studio album is released: "Bringing It All Back Home" is the first Bob LP to crack the Top Ten -- lead-off track "Subterranean Homesick Blues" also becomes his first single to chart in the U.S., peaking out at No. 39, but still...The album's iconic cover features a beautiful woman lounging in the background: that's Sally Grossman (the wife of Dylan manager Albert Grossman), and the artifacts scattered around the room (picked by Bob himself) include vinyl LP's from The Impressions and Robert Johnson. Way cool.

3/22/1975 (41 years ago today) - Led Zeppelin kick off six weeks in a row at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart with "Physical Graffitti". On the first day of its release, the album shipped a million copies, unprecedented for a double-vinyl set -- fact: no other album in the history of Atlantic Records had generated so much in instant sales and demand! It becomes the bands fourth U.S. No. 1 LP and proceeds to sell 16 million copies in America alone!

3/22/1943 - Remembering one of the British Invasions best front men: born on this date, original Yardbirds lead vocalist Keith Relf. One of the few acts of that time where, frankly, any one of their albums will hold up -- all of 'em bold, loud, psychedelic-boogie-'n'-blues turned inside-out and turned up to eleven!!! ("Roger The Engineer" is our fave, though alotta fans like "Five Live Yardbirds" just as much. Can't go wrong, trust us.) Keith died on May 14th 1976 from an electric shock he received while playing his guitar at home.
