3/28/1967 (49 years ago today) - Working on sessions for the "Sgt. Pepper" album at Abbey Road in London, John Lennon records his lead vocal for "Good Morning Good Morning" and Paul McCartney adds a lead guitar solo to the track. John wanted the sound of animals to end the song, requesting that they be sequenced in such a way that each successive animal was capable of scaring or eating the preceding one! Yikes!

3/28/1976 (40 years ago today) - Buffalo, New York: Genesis begin their first North American tour with Phil Collins taking over as lead vocalist for Peter Gabriel, who left the band to pursue a solo career. The tour was in support of the album "A Trick Of The Tail" which featured Phil on drums, but since the band now needed him singing out front for a lot of the songs, they added a second drummer -- former King Crimson percussionist Bill Bruford is now in the line-up for the shows on the road.

3/28/1981 (35 years ago today) - Blondie start two weeks at No. 1 on the singles chart with the infectious dance-classic "Rapture"; it's the band's fourth chart-topping single and, arguably, the first No. 1 song in the U.S. to feature rap in the lyrics, name checking Fab Five Freddy and Grandmaster Flash.
