3/9/1971 (49 years ago today) - No need to feel intimidated, but when The Who played this venue the result was maybe the greatest live rock album of all-time: Tonight is Led Zeppelin's turn to hit the stage at Leeds University in England -- It's the band's "Back To The Clubs" tour where they perform "Black Dog", "Going To California" and "Stairway To Heaven" live for the very first time...Again, where's that time machine we ordered?

3/9/1985 (35 years ago today) - Re-thinking its 'Wedding Song' implications: REO Speedwagon start three weeks at No. 1 on the singles chart with "Can't Fight This Feeling" -- When they performed it at the 1985 Live Aid concert, they were introduced onstage by...Chevy Chase -- It was their second U.S. chart-topper (the first was "Keep On Loving You") and are we sensing a trend? 3/9/1945 - Happy Birthday to guitarist extraordinaire Robin Trower, 75 years old today -- From Procol Harum, to bona-fide guitar-god status in the Seventies with his very-Hendrix-like solo albums and latter day productions with the likes of Bryan Ferry and Jack Bruce, we're rather fond of Mr. Trower, a genuinely fantastic talent -- Suggested additions to your home library: Procol Harum's "Broken Barricades" (1971), and the solo masterwork "Bridge Of Sighs" (1974), both still sound beautiful -- Robin Trower will be at Aura here in Portland for a WBLM night out this coming Rocktober 10th. You seriously need to think about going...
