5/12/1958 (58 years ago today) - The Everly Brothers start a four week run at No. 1 with their classic single "All I Have To Do Is Dream", simply one of the greatest tracks of all-time and it was nailed in just two takes. Two takes!!! Do we mere mortals have any idea of the magic that must have been involved here, really?

5/12/1963 (53 years ago today) - Bob Dylan walked out of rehearsals for The Ed Sullivan Show after being told he would not be allowed to perform "Talking John Birch Paranoid Blues" -- the subject matter was deemed inappropriate to air due to its mocking of segregation policies and the United States military. When CBS-TV officials asked him to substitute it for something else, Bob was Bob: "No, this is what I do. If I can't play my song, I'd rather not appear on the show". File under: "Words Of Wisdom".

5/12/1973 (43 years ago today) - Led Zeppelin start three weeks at No. 1 with their fifth studio album "Houses Of The Holy"; it's the band's third U.S. chart-topper (spending a total of 39 weeks on the chart) and ends up selling 11 million copies in America alone! "D'Yer Maker", "The Ocean", "Dancing Days", "Over The Hills And Far Away", "The Rain Song", "No Quarter"...yeesh, good God, no wonder it still gets played on radios around the world every friggin' day. Solid stuff.

"Only trouble is, gee whiz, I'm dreaming my life away...", xoxo!
