11 /11/1965 (51 years ago today) - At Abbey Road, London, the last session for The Beatles forthcoming "Rubber Soul" album is underway. Three tracks are needed -- an older song, "Wait", is pulled off the shelf, then they record two new songs from start to finish: both Paul's "You Won't See Me" and John's "Girl" are completed in just two takes! In the U.K., the boys sixth album is released on December 3rd, where it immediately goes to No. 1. But of course...

11/11/1972 (44 years ago today) - Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley is killed when his motorcycle hits a bus at he same intersection where Duane Allman died a year earlier...in a motorcycle crash; both musicians were 24 years old at the time of their passing. Spooky.

11/11/1927 - Happy Birthday to legendary hep-kat/singer-songwriter and jazz-&-blues pianist-vocalist Mose Allison, 89 years old today. Notoriously cool cover versions of some of Mose's songs include "Parchman Farm" by John Mayall, Blue Cheer, Bobbie Gentry and Rick Derringer, "Young Man Blues" by The Who and Hot Tuna, "I'm Not Talkin'" by The Yardbirds and Johnny Winter; Elvis Costello, Leon Russell, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Palmer, The Kingston Trio, The Clash and even Roy Rogers(!) have recorded Mose's stuff, too. Look him up and learn...
