Here's where Beatlemania really begins... -- Sly's last No. 1... -- Props for a Ramone...

11/30/1963 (52 years ago today) - The Beatles second album "With The Beatles" became the first million selling album ever in the U.K. and stayed at the No. 1 spot for 21 consecutive weeks(!), replacing their debut "Please Please Me" for the top position. A little perspective here, kids: what it all comes down to is that The Beatles occupied the No. 1 LP crown for a total of 51 weeks-in-a-row!!! Amaze-balls!!!

11/30/1971 (44 years ago today) - Sly & The Family Stone (one of the greatest bands ever!!!) are at Number One on the U.S. chart with the saucily funky "Family Affair", their fourth and final chart-topping single. Same old sad, sad story, though: drug problems and interpersonal strife led to the bands dissolution in 1975; Sly has been in reclusive/retirement mode ever since. 11/30/2003 (12 years ago today) - A block of East 2nd Street in New York City is officially renamed "Joey Ramone Place" -- it's the block where Joey once lived with band mate Dee Dee Ramone, not far from the club CBGB where the band played their first gigs. In 2010 it was reported that "Joey Ramone Place" was the Big Apple's most stolen sign! That sign now sits more than 20 feet above ground level.
