11/3/1991 (25 years ago today) - A free concert was held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park to honor the memory of legendary rock and roll concert promoter Bill Graham, who died the week before in a terrible helicopter crash. Performers included Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Grateful Dead, Journey and Joan Baez. Even today, it's hard to imagine classic rock's rise to infamy without Bill's Fillmore East and West venues. Incredible influence for a dude who wasn't even in a band...

11/3/1933 - Born on this day, musician-composer John Barry; if you don't know his name, you know his sound -- there's the original "James Bond Theme", plus other classic movie soundtracks like "Goldfinger" (1964), "Born Free" (1966), "Body Heat" (1981), and "Dances With Wolves" (1990) -- honored with many awards over his career, including five Oscars and two Grammys -- passed away January 30, 2011, at age 77.
