Today you got a first-time-at-Number-One-single, along with a first time for back-to-back multi-million selling LP's and an underrated British rocker's birthday...

10/14/1957 (58 years ago today) - The Everly Brothers have their first No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart with the ridiculously infectious "Wake Up Little Susie", surely one of the most defining singles of the 1950's. How can you not love this song?

10/14/1988 (27 years ago today) - It's why they're still mega!!!: Guess who becomes the first act in chart history to sell a minimum of seven million copies each of two consecutive LPs? None other than Def Leppard -- "Pyromania" (their third studio album originally released in 1983), followed by "Hysteria" (the band's biggest release to date, selling over 20 million worldwide and spawning six hit singles). They remain inescapable on your radio; it's just the way that it is.

10/14/1945 - Born on this date, Moody Blues singer/songwriter/guitarist Justin Hayward, 70 years old and he still has that full-head of blonde hair. Quite an underappreciated talent actually; his songs were always the best of The Moody Blues hits ("Question", "Nights In White Satin", "Never Comes The Day"); plus his guitar solo's for so many Moody classics are taken for granted: next time "The Story In Your Eyes" rolls around, check out Justin's guitar solo at the end. Yeah, he is rather quite good...
