10/25/1964 (52 years ago today) - The Rolling Stones make their first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show", performing "Time Is On My Side" and "Around And Around" which prompted a riot in the studio! Ed was furious: "I promise you they'll never be back on our show again." The Stones would perform on the Sullivan program five more times between 1965 and '69. Show-biz!

10/25/1968 (48 years ago today) - The Jimi Hendrix Experience release "Electric Ladyland", a two-record set that was recognized immediately as one of the decade's most astonishing recordings -- The original album sleeve was a photograph of 19 totally naked women sitting around, staring into the camera. Retailers deemed it pornographic; Jimi himself hated it, calling it disrespectful. The cover was changed to the now legendary/iconic sunburst photo of just Jimi's face, singing, with no words or title or band name printed on the front cover at all. Coolsville!

10/25/1986 (30 years ago today) - For the first time in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, the top three spots were held by female solo acts: No. 1, Cyndi Lauper, "True Colors"; No. 2, Tina Turner, "Typical Male"; No. 3, Janet Jackson, "When I Think Of You". '80's girl power, sho 'nuff...
