10/27/1964 (52 years ago today) - 31 year old Salvatore Philip Bono marries 18 year old Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPiere and for a time, they perform together as "Ceaser and Cleo". They really don't accomplish anything resembling success until they change the name of their act to Sonny & Cher. Bingo! "I Got You Babe" hits No. 1 in the U.S. and England in 1965. Their marriage lasts 12 years; their fame as a duo still remains...

10/27/1988 (28 years ago today) - The film "Rattle And Hum" by U2 gets its world wide premiere (where else) in their hometown of Dublin, Ireland. The live performances from "The Joshua Tree" tour still sound great, but it's the bands visit to Sun Studios in Memphis that really has the most effect. To actually be in that building.....well, for rock and roll fans, it's like The Ultimate Church.

10/27/1933 - Born on this day, Country & Western piano man Floyd Cramer -- Taught himself to play, went on to become one of the original architects of the legendary Nashville Sound, and was well-known for his "slip note" style of playing, where out-of-key notes slide into the correct note! -- Recorded with Patsy Cline (the classic "Crazy"), The Everly Brothers, Chet Atkins, Brenda Lee, Roy Orbison ("Only The Lonely" for starters), Boots Randolph and lots more -- Most notably, that's the sound of Floyd tinkling the ivories on Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel". Mr. Cramer, highly respected by his peers, passed away on December 31st, 1997; he was 67.
