Today it's a couple of classic singles that you can't get out of your head (one good, one not so...), and collectible album covers -- all for the same album!!!

10/6/1964 (51 years ago today) - A typical day for The Beatles: spend the afternoon recording another hit single (today it was "Eight Days A Week"), then spend the night partying at London's Ad Lib Club with friends The Ronettes and Mick Jagger. Good times indeed...

10/6/1973 (42 years ago today) - It lingers in your head, still: Cher starts a two-week run at No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart with "Half-Breed", her second chart-topper as a solo artist. Kinda scary...

10/6/1979 (36 years ago today) - It's either marketing-for-more-moolah or flat-out taking advantage of the fan base that's gotta collect everything they release: Led Zeppelin's "In Through The Out Door" hits No. 1 on the album chart here in America. Six versions of the cover were released, each depicting the same bar scene photographed from six dffferent angles. If you wanted to collect all six, good luck: the albums were also released covered by a brown paper bag, so you never knew which photo-version you were gonna get.
