44 years ago today, Eric Clapton returned to the stage at the Rainbow Theatre in London. The show was organized by Pete Townshend and happened on January 13, 1973 to bring Clapton back to the spotlight.  It was his first stage appearance since George Harrison’s Concert for Bangla-Desh in 1971. This night was particularly special as it was EC’s comeback after a period of heroin addiction. Joining Eric onstage were: Steve Winwood on keyboards, Jim Capaldi on drums, Ric Grech on bass, Ron Wood on guitar,  and of course Pete Townshend, also on guitar. Ah, that’s a pretty amazing line-up…right?

We’ll feature moments from this historic performance tonight at 6:20 on the WBLM Mini-Concert!

Good band! Listen!
