Happy 70th Birthday to guitarist Dave Davies! He and his older brother Ray led The Kinks from the early 60s to the mid 90s.  Dave’s loud distorted riff on the classic song You Really Got Me was the birth of the “power chord” and it started a path toward heavy rock.It was released in 1964 during the British Invasion and went to number 7 on the US chart. Van Halen did a version of it in 1978 and released it as their first single from their debut album. It has also become a classic. The Kinks responded with a faster, heavier version on their 1980 live album One For The Road.  Thank you Dave Davies for maybe the most influential 3 chords in the history of rock!
