It's pretty great that on the 43rd anniversary of the release of David Bowie's Aladdin Sane, we get a few of the best performances from Portland's Bowie tribute. It's Aladdin Maine!

On January 23, 2016, an amazing ensemble of local musicians performed for 1500 hundred Bowie fans at the State TheatreWBLM was honored to be a part of Portland’s tribute to the rock icon who has entertained and inspired millions. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Maine Cancer Foundation. The 3 hour Bowie love-fest made us all proud to live in this great city with these very special and talented local artists. One of those very special and talented artists onstage that night was Jeff Beam. Jeff also recorded the show and has put up a digital album on Band Camp.

Here's his announcement from his Facebook page:

I had a fun time putting this together - I recorded the David Bowie tribute show at the State Theatre, Portland, Maine back in January after his passing, and today I'm putting out 8 of the best songs from the evening. It's a free album, but if you donate, the proceeds will go to the Maine Cancer Foundation.

Big ups to Stefan Pierce Henegar for the amazing album artwork, and to Dominic Lavoie for the art idea and for mastering the album. Featured bands: Weakened Friends w/ Dom & Neil Collins, Dominic and The Lucid,Mat Zaro, Jeff Beam Music, Rustic Overtones, Spencer Albee, Five of the Eyes, and Sunset Hearts.

Please, share this around like a bag of ruffled potato chips. It's a fun souvenir from the night, and it's a great way to remember Mr. Bowie.
