He was born David Jones in Brixton, London, England on this day in 1947. He’s a singer, a songwriter, a record producer, an arranger, an actor and a painter! Is there anything this guy can’t do? The great David Bowie is nearing 50 years in an amazing career that’s always cha-cha-cha changing with every project. His latest work, Blackstar comes out today and has received 4 out of 5 stars from David Fricke in Rolling Stone. It was produced by longtime collaborator Tony Visconti, who was just in Portland last night performing Bowie music at the Asylum.
