44 years ago today, Neil Young released Heart of Gold as a single from the album Harvest. It was his first and only song to go number one in the US. When it went to the top of the pop chart in April of ’72, Harvest was also the number one album in the country.

We’ll celebrate the anniversary of Neil Young’s only number one single in America (so far) tonight at 6:20 with a WBLM Mini-Concert!

Now check this out. This is a performance of Heart of Gold from the Jonathan Demme concert film of the same name. It was released in 2006 and is beautifully shot at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. You can watch the whole thing streaming on Netflix.
