40 years ago today Tom Petty left his hometown of Gainesville Florida and headed to the west coast holding a demo tape of his then band Mudcrutch.  Petty had done his homework, and shortly after arriving, he had interest from seven record labels. He eventually signed with British record producer Denny Cordell’s label Shelter Records.  Tonight we'll spin live Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at 5:20, and here's an interview with Petty Tom  talking about music, his bands, his life and George Harrison....
