Vivian Campbell Says His Cancer Is Gone Again
"I'm currently in Boston and I did a scan on Tuesday morning," Campbell said today (July 31) via Facebook. "The scan shows that the cancer is in remission. Great news, but I'm trying not to get too excited about it, as I heard that same phrase late last year -- only to be disappointed again a few months after when it returned."
Campbell, who's also worked with Dio and Whitesnake, confirmed a Hodgkin's lymphoma diagnosis last summer, only to announce his first remission in the fall. This latest good news arrives as Campbell continues chemotherapy -- with more advanced cancer treatments to follow, once Def Leppard wraps up its ongoing tour with Kiss.
"The plan is to do a stem-cell transplant as soon as the tour is finished," continued Campbell, who has had noticeable hair loss lately. "However, to keep me in remission, my doctors have recommended that I do another, third round of the chemo, so I'm back in hospital, all hooked up and doing my rock 'n' roll drugs. Keef would be most proud!"
Def Leppard and Kiss hit Massachusetts and New Jersey this weekend. The tour concludes through August with a final appearance at the Woodlands, Texas.
