From generation to generation, Mainers have devoured the classic Italian sandwich available at their local corner store, their favorite deli or the closest Amato's sandwich shop. But as time has gone on, so has the debate on what ingredients EXACTLY make up the classic Maine Italian sandwich.

Thankfully, Portland comedian Aharon Willows is here to deliver this tutorial on what he believes are the proper ingredients.

As you can see in the video, Willows sides with the Amato's "recipe" for the classic Italian sandwich. On a personal note, I grew up in Lewiston with the Sam's version of the Italian sandwich. No olives included. Some other variations pop up across the state as well, with different styles of ham, some offering sweet versus sour pickles and other more interesting vegetable additions.

So what way, is the correct way? Is there ONE correct way? You tell us.
