In August of 1966 the band recorded "The Doors" on a four track tape machine. Bass and drums on one track, guitar and organ on another, Jim's voice on the third and the fourth track was used for overdubbing. This pop-art album was above the heads of most top 40 fans, but "Light My Fire" struck a cord across the board and this became one of the most influential psychedelic rock albums of all time.
