My birthday was August 25th, we had guests from California and New York visiting. Busy, busy, busy! During all the hub-bub, I knew Mark wouldn't have time to pick up a cake. Four children under the age of nine were expecting birthday cake on my birthday! So I went to Shaw's and bought the one with the most frosting flowers, and decided to take some liberties. It was MY cake after all. My fantasy cake had a "30 and Just Getting Started" candle on it. I wrote some of the words to my favorite birthday song by 50 Cent, but ran out of room. I left it open ended. "Gonna party like it's my..."  I didn't mind getting my own cake because our good friend, Hook, showed up with a case of "Bull's Blood" Hungarian wine and an evening worth of fantastic stories. My sister-in-law, Alisa had taken me up to the Top of the East for Birthday cocktails the night before with her friends, Marc and Jen. The kids were asleep and my brother Billy had joined us. It was a rare gathering of some of our favorite people! Hook told us a terrible joke, next time you see me out just ask, and I'll share it with you. He is a character!

Hook has returned to Rochester, and Alisa, Jenna and Marcus are back in Sacramento. Even though I decorated by own store-bought birthday cake, it was one of my favorite birthdays! Happy birthday to my Virgo buddy, Ron Brown!
