We go through this every year. When do we turn the heat on? We consider it for a few days, and add socks and sweaters into the wardrobe mix. My turning point is when my hands are Ice Cold. I take the walk into the dining room, turn left, and crank the heat to 68 degrees until I regain manual dexterity. And I always feel a little bit guilty. Like I should have waited one more week, that I'm soft to get cold during nights in the 40's. But, I have to tell you that it was so wonderful. So cozy to smell the radiators heat up! Isn't it the best smell?! My neighbor had a fire going in the wood stove last night and it smelled delicious! I went over for a glass of wine and a chat fireside. We were blessed with an amazing summer, but I am a fall girl and I am loving the change of seasons! Heating oil prices in Maine are lower than they have been in a long while, take advantage of that and top off your tank.

Have you turned the heat on yet? Do you have rules about when you do? Comment on our Fan Page or tweet #heatisgood.

We are taking out the air conditioners tomorrow!
