Hey, what happened to all the whistling?! When I was a kid it seemed there was a whole lot more whistling going on! I wonder why it has gone away. A cultural historian at Syracuse University in New York figured it out. It's cell phones! Every change in modern society seems to get traced back to cell phones, but the theory actually makes sense. We don't need to whistle to occupy ourselves anymore, we have phones to distract us and provide us with music! I'm not alone in noticing the decline in whistling. In a survey, 70% of people who took part say they hear less whistling than they did 20 or 30 years ago!

Here is one of my 80's faves that would not be the same without whistling!

Do you still whistle? Does hearing someone whistling fray your nerves? Comment on our Fan Page or tweet, #whistlewhileyouwork

My dad still whistles sometimes, and I like it. It reminds me of being little.
