I'm not a fan of "the drop in" visit. As much as I enjoy having company, I need a heads up! We have two kids, two cats, two dogs and I'm a borderline hoarder. But it happens, someone is in the area and they just stop by. What are they most likely to judge when entering your messy house?

According to a new study:

  • The smell is what makes the biggest impression when people first enter your home.
  • clutter
  • a dirty toilet bowl
  • dirty kitchen counters

The survey also found that the chores we dread most are scrubbing the shower and the toilet. Most of us clean our own homes, only 5% of the people in the survey hire a maid.

If you complain about your cleaning lady to me, I may have to pop you.
