One of my all-time favorite movies is Cool Runnings, the inspiring tale of Jamaica’s first Olympic bobsled team.

Now, I know bobsleds and toboggans aren’t technically the same thing, but let’s be honest, they both involve hurtling down ice at very high speeds, so, to me, close enough.

So if you ever wanted to watch people literally slide into victory down a snowy hill, then Camden Snow Bowl is where you'll want to be!

It's the 34th Annual U.S. National Toboggan Championship and it's set for another thrilling weekend of silly costumes, speed, and snow-bird vibes.

How many teams will be competing?

According to the event page, this is massive, nearly 400 teams and 1,200 racers, according to will be competing. They are from all over the country and will take on the epic Jack Williams Toboggan Chute. This chute has been sending risk takers down the ice since 1937, as per the event page.

The competition is definitely fierce but also extremely funny.

What makes this race so funny?

The spirit of the entire competition is all about fun. So you will witness creative team names, crazy outfits, and plenty of cheering as racers slide down the chute at extremely high speeds.

Spectating is totally free, but parking at the Snow Bowl is $20 per car and you need to know that it fills up fast. Luckily, they offer a free shuttle from Camden’s Village Green to keep things nice and smooth.

A lot of folks come to this competition.

Plus, there’ll be food vendors, sponsor tents, and all the Maine winter magic you will eat right up, according to the page.

Tell us about the historic chute!

The Jack Williams Toboggan Chute is so amazing because it is a handmade wooden track, with ice, that will lead you into Hosmer Pond.

Whether you’re racing, spectating, or just coming for the spirit of toboggans, this is one Maine tradition you don’t want to miss!
