Here’s How You Can Help a Central Maine School Get a New Playground
When it comes to our Maine elementary schools, we all know that there's always some kind of drive or fundraiser going on to help with something that the school needs.
Unfortunately, it seems as though our schools never have a budget big enough to maintain and acquire all of the things that they need. Of course that problem isn't just exclusive to Maine, it seems to be the case all across the country.
However, as parents and community members, there are always ways that we can help and give back to the schools that do so much for us and our kids.
Part of the best elementary school experience, aside from chicken burger day, is every kids favorite time- recess. And what would recess be without an epic playground to get out and enjoy it on, am I right?
Well, a school in my hometown of Windsor, and where all three of my sons go/have gone, Windsor Elementary School, is doing a cool fundraiser to help attain the funds necessary to build a brand-new playground.
And, at least I think, this is one of the best ways to do it. They are doing a bottle drive. But you don't have to worry about lugging your cans and bottles to the redemption center to participate.
Windsor Elementary School has built a 'bottle box' that sits just inside the main entrance to the property. All you have to do is pull up, unload your cans, bottles and other container returnables, and off you go.
It really is a slick idea and a great and easy way for people in (and outside) the community to help give back to a school that has done so much for us.
So, the next time you're thinking that it's time to hit the area redemption center, consider bringing your returnables over to WES, Ridge Road in Windsor!
