I got a very interesting message from a friend of mine yesterday. Now, for the sake of their privacy, I'm going to keep this couple and their location anonymous. However, what I will tell you is that this happened right here in Central Maine on Tuesday afternoon.

So what exactly happened?

Imagine this, you're coming home from a long day at work and when you pull into your driveway you immediately think that someone may have broken into your house or garage. That's exactly what happened to one Maine couple on Tuesday in Central Maine.

She texted me to let me know that what originally appeared to be vandalism  turned out to be an apparent space rock that had crashed through a garage window and screen and landed on the cement floor.

How did it end up in the garage in the first place?

Fortunately, this apparent celestial debris landed on the hard concrete floor because whatever it was came in hot- literally. She went on to say that where the rock had gone through the screen, the edges were burned.

Now, admittedly, I'm not much of a rock expert, but even not known much about chunks of our galaxy, this definitely looks like something that came from beyond our orbit, doesn't it?

Have there been other recent meteors in Maine?

Meteors in Maine aren't all that uncommon, either. According to an article published by WABI TV 5, folks in eastern Maine got quite the show on Thursday evening when an apparent meteor entering the earth's atmosphere lit the sky up for miles.

So is this central Maine incident a piece of that meteor that just took awhile to land? Is it a piece of another meteor that people may not have seen? Or, is it someone dressing a regular rock up like a space rock and throwing it through a window?
