Signs, there everywhere. They tell us where we are and where to go. But there is one particular sign in Maine that confuses the hell out of all of us and because of that, has become a national staple to our state, according to Hidden Gems US.

If you are driving through western Maine near Lynchville, you will see it, posted up, sitting pretty and pretty confusing, on the side of the road.

To me, the sign looks like it's meant to be at an airport, an international airport at that.

Did I just black out and wake up on a European vacation? No, I am still in Maine and this road sign is just another reason our state is such a national treasure.

What's does the sign say?

According to the article, Maine has a habit of borrowing names from far-off places as you know, and on the sign are the following names: Denmark, China, Norway, Sweden, Mexico, Peru and even Paris, but don’t expect pastries or an Eiffel Tower because remember we're still in Maine.

Why do we have these names in the first place?

It's pretty simple, according to Hidden Gems US, this is a tribute to Maine's towns named by Mainers that were truly inspired by places around the world.

Well, if one baffling sign isn't enough for you, Maine actually has two more similar signs that are similar, one in Kittery and another in South China.

Because why have just one when you can have a whole collection?
