This Maine Beach Will Make You Feel Like You’re in Saint-Tropez
Recently, my family and I went to the beach. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to soak up the sun and lay on the beach, since we just returned from vacation. Putting away the luggage and doing all the laundry could wait, so we scooted off to one of my wife's favorite spots in Portland.
It is Willard Beach, and my wife has been bringing me there for many years now. But it wasn't until today that I noticed it looked like a place I have always yearned to go.
When we arrived with our seven-year-old son, Bentley, and our dog, I was taken aback at what European spot this beach reminded me of.
I recently watched a movie that took place in Saint Tropez, France, and was blown away with how similar it was to the scenery in that film.
Here is Saint Tropez and Willard Beach. Aren't they similar?
Saint Tropez can never be cloned, but there were so many similarities that I was able to transport myself to that French beach off the coast.
First, the deep blue of the water caught my eye immediately. Then, there were the boats! So many stunning sailboats and mini-yachts, their sails filling the horizon with movement from the sea winds.
The coastline added to my perfect little illusion, with its shape, the soft sand, and the beautiful beachgoers. It was like a scene from a movie!
So, if you're craving a getaway to Saint-Tropez but don't have the budget, head to Willard Beach in South Portland on a sunny day.
Watch as the beach transforms into a French paradise right before your eyes!
