Bundle Up, Maine! The weekend freeze may shatter records!

This weekend in Maine is shaping up to be seriously cold, think “wrap yourself in three layers and still shivering” cold.

Temperatures are expected to drop well below zero at night, and even during the day it’s barely warming up. With the wind chill, it’s going to feel even harsher, so frostbite could happen fast if you’re outside for too long.

It’s the kind of cold that makes you rethink leaving the house, sip hot drinks nonstop, and appreciate the heater a little too much. Basically, winter is showing up in full force, and it’s not messing around.

Meteorologists are warning this Arctic blast could be strong enough to challenge record lows in some locations this weekend.

But most areas are not expected to break long‑standing temperature records. Forecasts look like the cold will align more with historic winter lows rather than surpass them.

At the very least, it is shaping up to be the coldest weather we have seen, since 2018, when Maine never got out of the single digits!

Here is how it all breaks down:

Saturday: Mostly sunny, breezy and frigid. Highs between -7° to 0° across the north and 0° to +7 elsewhere. Northwest wind gusting to 25-35 MPH at times. Wind chills as low as -30° to -40° across the north and –15° to -30° elsewhere.

Sunday: Increasing clouds. Afternoon or evening snow possible. Highs between 0° to +14°.

Bottom line: Wind chill could plunge into the −30s and even approach −40°F in spots, making this a historic‑level cold weekend and one of the most intense cold snaps of the season

If you’re in or traveling to Maine this weekend, plan for serious cold and take precautions...it’s going to feel like deep winter out there!
