Meet Charlotte, she is a resilient young Maine woman whose strength has pushed her to the limit. She has gone through 54 surgeries in 11 years.

Her next surgery is coming this August, but you’d never know it from her bright spirit.

Meet Charlotte: A Resilient Maine Teen Turning Pain into Purpose

According to LCNME, back in 2014 after preschool, 2 year old Charlotte came home for her usual tea time with her mom, Carol.

While Carol got their drinks ready, Charlotte, still wearing snow boots, reached up and accidentally pulled a hot cup of water off the counter. It spilled, burning her from neck to waist and chipping her tooth.

As per the article, Carol, was a registered nurse and former EMT, and so she acted immediately by removing Charlotte’s clothes and cooling her burns.

She and her husband Jeff rushed to the hospital but as Charlotte began going into shock, they stopped at the Wiscasset Fire Department. From there, Charlotte was transported to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland where when she walked in was met with 11 medical personnel.

Charlotte had suffered third-degree burns over 15% of her body, including her face, neck, chest, and back. Her polyester turtleneck didn't help the injuries but because her parents quick action, it helped from getting even worse.

Despite it all, Charlotte will not let her past define her, so she attends church events and continues to lift everyone up around her.

And now, she needs our support, she is hoping to attend a national burn conference that is offering life-changing workshops for young people focused on bullying, self-esteem, and healing. Going to this would help her immensely, so let’s get her there.

To help fund this trip, these amazing women are offering help with cooking, cleaning, pet, or house-sitting, and more but a little support from us could make a big difference.
