Peaks Island is that place that looks like a postcard in real life. So pause whatever you are doing right now, because it’s not an epic Maine summer until you visit Peaks.

It’s just a 20 minute ferry ride from Portland and who doesn’t want to ride on a ferry. You get the whole norther experience. It feels like the ferry is actually leading you to a different world and it’s memorable.

Your Perfect Portland Getaway Is Just a Ferry Ride Away

Once you step off the boat and see the rocky shores and that salty air hits you just right, you are officially in island mode.

My favorite part of Peaks are the tiny, adorable local shops! The local art galleries, ice cream spots, restaurants makes your experience a memorable one.

Oh! And you should totally rent a bike, this is a must.

Ride the 4 mile loop around the island and you’ll get the sickest views, hidden beaches, and occasional “wait.. someone actually lives in this gorgeous house?” moment.

The highlight? The Umbrella Cover Museum. Yep, take it from me, it’s a real thing and it’s weird and wonderful all at the same time.
