Another longtime Maine business is closing and this time it is a furniture story. Young’s Furniture is adding to the growing list of family-run businesses that are coming to an end, according to WMTW.

This announcement came as a shock on Friday that their showroom is closing after nearly 100 years in business.

Located at 1 Diamond Street in Portland, signs stating the store is closing went up over the weekend, which of course drew attention to longtime customers.

Many have relied on this store to fill their Maine homes for decades.

As per the article, this amazing place was born and founded in 1931, the store has stayed in the family for a whopping 95 years. The store has made it's marked and has been a steady fixture in the community for generations.

Nearly 100 Years Later, a Beloved Maine Furniture Store Closes Its Doors

The owners say that the decision is not due to financial struggles, but a personal choice. They are retiring from the furniture business.

According to the articles, Corrin Waldo, current owner says “This decision comes with deep gratitude and mixed emotions, our success was never just about furniture, it was about relationships, craftsmanship, and being a destination for beautiful things. We achieved that. Being a part of this community has been a privilege. We are proud of the legacy we leave behind and beyond grateful to everyone who made it possible.”

The Hub Furniture store in Westbrook announced its closure in December, after 50 years in operation.

The exact date of closure has yet to be announced.

Yet another store has closed it's doors but those who have furnished their homes and families will often look upon their purchases with good memories.
