Surprise of a Lifetime for 90-Year-Old Veteran Caring for Wife in New Hampshire
This is a story of generosity that will make your heart melt.
A 90-year-old disabled Air Force veteran named Donald went to U.S. Gold & Pawn in Manchester, New Hampshire, to pawn items and get the cash needed to care for his wife, who has dementia. He was surprised when he was handed an envelope containing $1,300, that was raised through a GoFundMe that the pawn shop employees put together for him.
His first reaction was to refuse the gift, but the pawn shop insisted. Donald was so grateful that he wanted to take the woman who gave him the cash to lunch as a thank you. She humbly said that he didn't need to do that.
The video of Donald was shared on TikTok, and has gone viral.
Here's a little more about Donald from the GoFundMe page:
He is the sweetest old man you could ever meet and loves his wife dearly. He takes care of her around the clock and his landlord is raising their rent and he is falling behind terribly with all of his bills. He's deathly afraid he's going to be displaced and that they are going to make his wife go to a home. I'm currently looking to find him a new place to rent that is within his budget, but I was hoping I could fundraise some money to lessen his load of financial stress.
Since the video of Donald went viral, his GoFundMe has now reached over $100,000, and is still growing.
Hopefully, Donald will now have enough money to find a place and be able to care for his wife. It's amazing what the world can do when we all pitch in to help.
