This One Moment at Maine’s Fryeburg Fair Restored My Lost Faith in Humanity
I don't have to explain to you what I mean when I say that the world feels extra cold in the last five or so years for you to understand what I'm talking about. I know that you know, and you know that you know.
Times don't feel as simple or as positive anymore ever since COVID (just an opinion), but there are still lots of things that remind me we're not all totally corrupt.
Here's a quick feel-good story.
On Friday, October 4, I was on my way to broadcast my radio show from the Fryeburg Fairgrounds from 6 to 10 a.m.
When it's that early in the morning, you tend to not be on top of your game as much as you'd be if you had gotten enough sleep the night prior. That being said, my license, along with some cash, had fallen out of my vest pocket on my way into the fairgrounds.
I truly didn't notice anything went missing just yet simply because I had to jump on air for the show so my mind was elsewhere.
After the show ended a little girl by the name of Jordan had come over and reached her hand out to me. I looked up to see her and her mother standing there holding my license photo up to my face in what looked like confirmation.
Jordan's mother said, "See, the girl in that photo is Krissy, so let's return her lost license and see if this cash we found on the ground is also hers."
Feeling insanely touched by such a kind gesture doesn't even do the feeling that rushed over me instantaneously justice.
Honestly, the best part was witnessing a young mother in the middle of teaching her child right from wrong. She was teaching her morals and how to do the right thing, and that excited me in ways I can't describe.
This young mother was molding the future of our generation the right way, and that was what restored my vision of humanity.
Thank you to the mommy-daughter duo I met who could have easily taken my cash and ran but did the complete opposite.
You are adored beyond belief. Thank you.
