Maine Has 12 UFO Sightings So Far in 2024, and Here’s Where They Were Reported Seen

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, there have been 1,279 UFO sightings reported so far in 2024 (as of July 19), with June being the month with the most at nearly 300.

A majority of the reports come from the United States, which is probably not a surprise as the UFO center is based in the states in Washington.

As for where Maine ranks in total for the NUFORC reporting (so, not just 2024), it lands at No. 32 in the country with 1,201 total sightings.

How Many UFO Sightings in Maine in 2024

Breaking it down to just 2024 provides a different number from the UFO Center: 12 in Maine since January 1, 2024.

Interestingly, only one location had two different sightings: Windham.

The 12 places these sightings reportedly occurred were in Waterboro, Boothbay, Windham, Paris, York, Hermon, Biddeford, Dover-Foxcroft, Naples, Searsport, and Richmond.

There were no sightings in April, and the month with the most sightings in Maine was February.

In an article for WGME about reported 2023 sightings, UFO author and researcher Normar Slevik said the numbers reported are only part of the picture.

"There’s a lot of sightings that are happening in Maine that are going unreported through official means,” Slevik told the news station. “But sightings, if you look on social media, you’ll find that they are way up."

So even though there have only been 12 sightings reported to the National UFO Reporting Center for 2024, that doesn't mean there haven't been more out there.

Did you know New England was the site of one of the first UFO sightings?

According to NewEngland.com, "The first documented UFO sighting in America occurred here, as did the first widely publicized claim of alien abduction." The website's article highlights that one of the first sightings was in 1639 in Boston.

That's nearly 400 years ago!

It looks like New England continues to be something of a hot spot destination for unidentified flying objects and tourists alike. Must be the lobster rolls.

And who knows how many more UFO sightings there will be as 2024 continues? Guess we'll just have to wait, find out, and... believe.
